The day after an entirely sleepless night. I must have woken up 5 or 6 times last night to pee / star into the darkness/ listen to weird beeping sounds / mentally plan my tuition lesson etc.
That was after my flu medication took effect somemore! As a result, today was utterly painful.
I had tuition with Salwa in a zonked-out state but managed to get my act together throughout the class. I swear I come alive only during tuition. (My GoD I sound Like a teacherholic!) She was very fun to teach - my most fun student so far - and the 41 year-old (she's my record holder) needs guidance in oral and conversational skills and reading and writing.
She wasn't what I expected (a tudung-wearing, kerbaya clad lady) but a funky gal who adorned herself with dangling ear-rings and a chunky bracelet to spruce up her top and jeans outfit. We warmed up quickly to each other and soon she was telling me her deepest darkest secrets!
After that 2 hour lesson, I dived into bed and caught some much needed snooze until Shireen called to postpone Hayden's lesson till tomorrow. Thankfully I agreed.
It was 6pm when Dania arrived and we had class till 8pm, during which my sweet potato soup was boiling on the stove. I gave a huge bowl to the Kuas and then went out for dinner (Robson's) with Alan.

Under the Weather
God, I wonder when I will stop having these bouts of weird dreams. They are leaving me exhausted in the mornings. Sad to say, I am under the weather. My nose whistled whilst I was sleeping last night as it was stuck. And now, I have a running nose. Argh.
I have two lessons today. Hayden and Avik. And I'll need to prepare for tomorrow's class when I shall meet the taitai (she claims she's a housewife but her husband owns a law firm, so there) for the very first time...
Later, I shall endeavour to go to buy some meat (yes as in in Jusco or Carrerfour) so that I can cook dinner tonight once again. Now if only the housekeeping people will come........
Hayden and Avik came consecutively for tuition and then I cooked dinner. I swear I shall not buy mussels to cook at home ever again. I used up all of 20 gallons of water washing Rm2.58 of mussels and they were still sandy! *angry*

The start of a new week
Hello people.
I had weird dreams all of last night and almost didn't wake up in time to make hubbie breakfast. I rushed into the kitchen late 8am and soon a ham and cheese sandwich made it's way into his hand.
Now I am lazing around and my first tuition lesson will commence at 230pm. There's one more class from 6-8pm tonight and I shall cook dinner in between. :)

SUNday
3 May 2008 (Saturday)
Hayden came for tuition from 930-1130am at my house in Singapore! It's amazing! His Mum chased me for lessons all the way from KL. HahahAhah. The family was in Spore on a short weekend getaway and his dad started their journey from KL at 5am to reach my house by 9am. hhaha. *laff*
Anyway, Hayden did a write up about his would-be excursion to the Aquaria KLCC and made me wanna visit it as well.hahaha. What with "scary sharks" and "gigantic, poisonous stingrays" and a Touch Pool to feel the "slimy creatures" as well. I shall make it a point to drag the husband to visit Aquaria KLCC with me soon!
After the two hour tuition, during which Alan and the Kuas went for breakfast at Kiliney Kopitiam and adjourned to starbucks, Alan and I did some last minute packing and managed to accumulate another car load of stuff to bring back to KL.
We embarked on our drive trip at 2+ and it took us a while to get to the very jam-packed Tuas causeway. *Sigh* to prevent our dear Mas from escaping, every driver had also to disembark and inprint our thumbs - very cool system.
When we reached the Malaysian side, the guards were too busy chatting to give us a second glance (as usual).
The drive took Alan a mere 3 hours (and yes we sped lah). I fell asleep for about 1/2 hour, exxhausted from the excitement of the night before and my 2 hour tuition.
Dinner was a quick fishhead beehoon soup and vege at our dearly-missed Robson's.
After which we went home to unpack our millions of boxes and bags furiously. hahaha.
4 May 2008 (Sunday)
I have just finished 2.5hours of tuition with Anviksha. ZzzZz. We need to go The Gardens to pick up lunch / groceries and then go fetch our fluff ball from Robin's. :) Can't wait to see him. *sigh* I hope Ash didn't sleep next to the main door again last night, waiting for our return. *sniff*
9:53pm Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your (sorely-missed) tuition teacher in KL has garnered another student. AHhahaah From what I hear, she's a Malay Tai tai whose husband has been pushing her to improve her English for "10 years"!!
We chatted a bit and she will be coming for lessons either two or three times a week in the mornings!!! Yay! 1030-1230pm each lesson. And ahhhh my fees have increased. Now I make Rm80/hr!! (Yah lah yah lah.. still miserable lah)
Anyway, today we went grocery shopping and bought stuff to last us a while. I shall endeavour to cook dinner tomorrow evening, before my tuition to save money. :D We spent almost Rm200, stocking up the fridge and cupboards.
Lunch was a simple pigs intestines meesuar (damn tasty) and some fried sweet potato balls.
My treat! My husband had helped me transfer my phone data from the Nokia to the O2 whilst I was having tuition this morning. He deserved a treat! :) I bought him tutu kueh as well for a snack.
We bought Robin's family a Secret receipe choco banana cake and then went to fetch Jay Jay. The fella scampered outta the house and into my arms to welcome us when we arrived. After that, he automatically went into his doggie bag and lay down, seemingly pleading with us to bring him home. hahaha. Cute.
I went swimming at 6+pm whilst Alan took a nap. After 20laps, I was tired. I havent been exercising for 2 weeks! After a quick shower, we went to Xiu Xiu Restaurant for dinner. Our very big steamed fish, beef and bittergourd soup was super expensive - Rm90. Our plans for saving $ flew outta the window...whoops.

More Sins
28 April 2008 (Tuesday)
Today was exciting. I was due to meet my "long-lost" friend. I hadn't met Ryan in years ( at least 3 ) and we were slated to catch up at Bakerzin at Paragon. I was of course fashionably late ( I still refused to take a cab even though I had missed the bus) and strode violently under the scorching sun to Paragon from Orchard Mrt.
Like super good friends, the years of absence did not cause too long a period of awkward silence and we quickly gave each other a summary of our lives over the past few years. It was really fun and we reminisced about the good ol' days...
It was around 3+pm when he had to leave and we promised to meet up more often and not wait till three years later to arrange another meeting. (I've realised something: Friends make more effort to meet up with me since I am located so far away...haahah).
After Ryan left, I proceeded to shop around in Orchard road whilst waiting for my dinner appointment-makers. After hitting tangs and far east plaza, I still turned up amazingly empty-handed at the dinner venue. Restaurant Ayam Bakar at Lucky Plaza.
My NIE friends Yati and Nana were to dine with me there and Alan joined us after his short booze session with his Boss. We chatted and ate and forgot to take photographs (hence explaining the lack of pictures in this entry) and updates were shared as well.
30 April 2008 ( Wednesday)
Vince picked me up for a breakfast meet-up and we chatted for almost 2 hours at Kiliney Kopitiam near my house. The meesiam was satisfying and the teh si delicious.
Afterwhich I rushed home to shower (again- yes I am a clean freak) and then headed to Clarke Quay Carpenter road for my (free) facial. I had done a survey recently whilst waiting for my mum outside PS and now I was rewarded a facial for me to try this BF parlour's products / services.
The beautician got me to change and lie down and then started to cleanse my face. Almost immediately, she tried to hard sell me some oxygen facial to be done hand in hand with my own free facial. I shook my head politely and told her that I had purchased a package somewhere else already and was just there to try their services. She however, ignored me and spent the next 15mins going on and on about what she was trying to promote me. In the end, I still ended up victorious and left the spa with my face intact and not having spent a single cent. (applause pls)
I shopped a lil at Central then left to meet Mum at Centrepoint after her own facial. We waited and Alan joined us and we had lunch at Eatz at the basement. The noodles wasn't too bad and after that we went for a movie - Iron Man! It's cool. Go catch it! UOB was giving a discount as well and each tic only cost $6! How touching!
Then we had dinner at Siglap fishhead steamboat and relived the ol' times. Yum.
1 May 2008 (Thursday and Labour day)
We woke up late and relished the sleep in. Then Alan and I decided to hit the shops. We went to Raffles City and then to Vivo City before going to chinatown for an hour of massage. *Delicious* Then we went to fetch my mum from her work place and went home for a feast.
My father-in-law had tapaoed a roasted duck and my mum had bought a whole mountain of food for dinner. Yam basket, pig's trotters, vege, fried egg etc lined our table and my in-laws (including sis-in-law n future husband) and all of us feasted. It was absolutely sinful. :(
2 May 2008 (Friday)
I had arranged to meet Gary and Stephen at Plaza Sing Bakerzin without realising it had closed down / moved... In the end, Stephen didn't get my message stating change of venue and he didn't turn up!
After lunch with Gary, I took a bus quickly down to Suntec to meet the girls. They were however going to be (very) late and therefore I went to entertain myself first. In the end, Because they were late, I bought 2 polo-tees (for golf) and 1 t-shirt (for tuition use) and 1 pair of sport socks. Hahaha. *sigh* I have such lousy will power.
Finally, they all turned up (45mins late) and we decided (after 5 laps around the fountain) to eat at Surf N Turf. A Lousy choice it turned out to be. The food wasn't very special and tasty. But the company made up entirely for it. We laughed at weird jokes (peiting's of course) and "chickennutbread" hahahaa. and then took stupid photos for the rest of the night.

The girls were so sweet and snatched my credit cards away (after I whipped them out one by one) and insisted on treating me to dinner. So I treated them to Yammi Yoghurt which I was having a craving for.
After that, Alan joined us and we drove around looking for a bowling alley. We ended up at ECP Marine Bowl, amist many weird-looking, threatening people. We thankfully were given a corner lane and started our game.
That evening, we realised (a) Edwyna cannot bowl for nutz , (b) Pearlyn's balls are straight and powerful , (c) Peiting loses her touch after her fourth frame and (d) Ms Sharon Goh can win her husband in bowling.
Hahhaha. It was almost 2am after we sent all the gin nahs back home. Peiting to Tanjong Pagar, Edwyna to Teban Gardens and lastly Pearlyn to Hougang. Oh my god. However, the greed just took over at 145am and Alan and I adjourned to the meepok stall along East Coast Road to satisfy our cravings and hunger pangs. hHahhahaa.

More tete-a-tete!
Dear all,
When we meet up over the next few days, please remind me that my waistline is thickening and that I should just order a salad and a hot tea when we engage in our mindless chatter. Hahaha. It's true. The catching-up has taken its toil on my physique and I'd dread to return to KL a pudgy, shapeless housewife. Let's take yesterday for example...
I lounged around the house until it was time to leave and then took a bus to Doby Ghaut. I stormed across to Plaza Sing in the dreadful heat (no wonder I don't leave my apartment in KL) and started shopping with nothing in mind.
In the end, I hit Daiso and picked up some gems. Bought some stuff for Hayden as well which we can use during our lessons. Hahhaha. Oh yah, by the way, his mum emailed me and requested for 2 - 3 lessons whilst we are both in Singapore!!! I am amazed. I've never given lessons to a kid in two different countries before! Ma Ma Mi Ah!
Anyway, I suggested that she bring him down to my place on Friday and Saturday morning 9-1030am cos those are the only time slots that can be squeezed outta my busy (pigging-out) schedule!! xp We shall see if she's keen.
Sorry digressed again...
Well, after Daiso, it was time to leave and adjourn to Parkmall Olio Dome to catch up with Kala and Hema. (Azline developed a headache after choosing that ulu place with nothing to do, and decided not to gimme face and join us in the end..) Look what marking does to you babe? Hahaa Hema, of cos, looked much more relaxed than Kava, who seemed as though she was counting down the seconds to going home to mark. HAhahahhaa. (I just realised that Life is Beautiful!)
After finishing a tandori chicken tortilla wrap (says defensively," I didn't have lunch you knoW?) and sharing a cheesecake ( omg it's a good way to die), Malini sent me to Paragon. I had an hour and a half or so to kill so I roamed around. There was a lovely dress on sale at POA but I didn't buy it. (tahan) and nothing was attractive at Muji and I decided to just wait outside Sushi Tei for our two siginnahs and their daddy to arrive.
It was around 8+pm when four famished fools sat down to dinner and of course we ordered like we were 8 famished fools. There was a big steamboat of chicken and seafood nabe (YuM), sashimi salad, salmon belly soup, beef slice rolled with mushrooms, mango and king prawn sushi,1 curry rice, 1 unagi rice and 2 noodles. Oh oh, there were approx 4 plates of sushi too. hahahhaa. The bill came up to be $145 and our bellies roared in approval.
At approximately 945pm, we bade the two "little" girls farewell and went our separate ways.

Post Weekend Trauma
Friday 25th April 2008
I took a bus downtown to PS to meet my mum for a tete-a-tete. We had a quick lunch at the food court where I was disappointed by the beef noodles (Raffles City's is MUCH better) and then went to watch Jackie and Jet battle it out in the movies.
One takeaway that I got from the movie Forbidden Kingdom was that the two cheena martial arts experts had really improved on their English by leaps and bounds. And watching them splutter our English sentences wasn't as painful as before. :D
After the movie, we made our rounds at PS searching for things to buy. We bought some food back for my poor little deprived sister (staying in NUS hall) and then took a bus home.
After my shower, I waited patiently for Alan to come home and then both of us (and two big boxes of fried rice) made our way to West Coast, Blue Horizon for a 4C1 (2005) gathering. Ahhhh those were the good ol' days. As the form teacher of that particular class, I did not have to raise my voice more than once in two years. Forms were collected promptly and the treasurer, my dearest Rusana, would hand me money that she had collected from the class outta her own initiative. (The form teacher could just sleep-in and all the work would be done!!! What a breeze!) That class was truly my best-est form class ever in all my years in Crescent. And the interesting thing was, no one had changed much throughout the years! HAhahaha they all looked the same!
We munched on otah, prawns, donuts and watnots all placed in front of us and Elaine (Chua) and I chatted incessantly whilst Alan busied himself with his D300, as the official photographer of the party. ahahhaha. Girls, I shall place the photos on Facebook when I return to KL. Give me some time. ahahhhaa.
Thanks Crystal and XiaoQi for organizing this party. :) We all had a good time (frolicking in the pool much to the wrath of the security guard).
Saturday 26th April
All of us got up around 9+am and we went to the temple near my place to 'receive' my great-grandmother. She had been buried at a cemetry in Mandai and now, after exhumation and cremation, she lies in an urn next to her husband in this temple in Jalan Senang.
After this religious ceremony, my whole family adjourned to Katong Shopping Centre to get fat. We ordered half a roast chicken and half a white chicken etc and each had a plate of chicken rice. *munch munch* Then I bought some cakes and tarts for our mini gathering at BK's house.
The drive to Canberra was long and tedious and I was amazed to see Canberra Link placed next to Johor Bahru on our GPS! *Gasp* Stephen was already grumbling when we arrived so I shut his mouth with an egg tart specially bought for him. hahaha.
Then the games began.... and we left (bidding bye to the Chinchillas) at around 10-ish pm. We all also realised that we were all getting old...Last time we could sit and play for the longest time, till the wee hours of the morning. But now? It's sufficient to say that that night, all of us suffered somewhat from muscular trauma.
Alan and I took a drink at the nearby coffeeshop admist a match of Chelsea Vs Man-U. The throngs of people from all lower rungs of society made us feel very much at home in Singapore. Ahahahaha. Somehow, one doesn't feel that much threatened by the Ah Bengs in Singapore than in Malaysia. AHahahahha Sheesh.
Sunday 27th April
We went to Marina Square after a sinful brunch that Mum had bought home. Alan was disappointed by the bad service of Cathay but picked up many "ang gong kiahs" to put on his Crocs. The total cost of the ang gong kiahs can buy me a pair of Crocs - you understand my trauma now? hahahah. *shake head*
We went to Cafe Cartel for a horrendously sinful milkshake each and then went to fetch TK and then hit Vivo City for a short shopping escapade.
Then it was off to Da Shanghai at Grand Corpthorne where another feast began. Peking duck, ham and wanton soup, jelly fish etc lined our table and we all tucked in heartily. My mother-in-law said I put on weight and my sister-in-law's future mother-in-law said I have grown prettier (due to "love's nourishment". ahem ahem). How can the two descriptions co-exist in our world??? AHhhh I digress...
