Here is the news we have all been waiting for: We HAVE FINALLY BOUGHT THE HOUSE! Mdm fengshui master took one look at the house (from the outside) and started nodding her head. She toured the entire place and continued the nodding. hahaha Finally, when it was time for her to leave, she said that she couldnt bear to leave because the house was too cosy and comfortable.
We had lunch with our hardworking and very interesting housing agent at Outback (our first real meal in a week!) to celebrate our purchase and he will hop over later for us to sign the documents. hee hee
Please say CONGRATULATIONS to us, the new owners of a beautiful Corner terrace in Bangsar Terasek 3!

Step Two to Buying a House: FENGSHUI
I wonder when I started becoming so superstitious -but I guess it can't be helped, having a businessman for a husband. I started reading some fengshui magazines by Lillian Too a week ago. Of course, I also flipped the ID ones but ID in Malaysia leaves much to be desired, I'm sorry to report. :P The ID here has many lines and patterns and the feel does not come off as classy chic but more like complicated confusion.
I don't think we need an ID person to come in but we still need to decide what style / theme we want to use. Balinese or Modern Contemporary? We like the woody-feel and the bright garden will accentuate a Balinese concept, if chosen.
Today, we are bringing in our Fengshui master ( a lady) to view the house and determine whether it's suitable for Alan and I. That's at 1230pm.

Step One to buying a House : Save Marnee!
In a desperate bid to save money with the motivation of buying a new house and enjoying the first opportunity to create a home together, The Husband and I have been actively saving money. Our first step was to cut down our expenditure on FOOD- if you don't know us very well, let me tell you that quite a hefty fraction of our household income is dedicated monthly to that sector. ahahhaa
We have since changed our eating habits from restaurants (our commonly know in Malaysia as restorans) to hawker centres and foodcourts. We have tried The Gardens foodcourt (thrice for dinner this week) and also the Mid Valley foodcourt (for their renowned but disappointing bbqed seafood) for lunch on Saturday.
Today, after bringing the dogs to have some fun at doggie class at Taman Desa, we even tapao-ed charsiew noodles from the hawker centre there!! All for a good cause, don't you think? :D
This evening, we also headed to Bangsar pasar malum to buy some fresh seafood/vegetables etc at wholesale prices. This Maid will be cooking dinner for the whole week (if possible) so that the Sir and the Mum (me again) can eat at home and save money by playing wii and watching DVDs. aahhhahaha

fervent house-hunting continues
I've been sooooooooooo lazy to update my blog. It's been a week! Amazing, but TRUE.
Well, the past 1 week was spent fervently house-hunting. We saw a couple more houses and 1 which we lived quite a lot but the asking price and the bank's valuation don't match and it's no way we are going to cough up money to finance this house. Still looking around. We've got two to view tonight and two tomorrow. ahahha I think we are causing a frenzy in this very slow property market.This weekend, we intend to spend it at Mid Valley where a property fair will be held. We also have another facial appointment, this time at Cres from 2-4pm on Saturday. It's tiring but interesting to view houses and see how people have done them up.
I think I shall go and buy some home decor mags soon ...

We brought our Fengshui master (Mdm Katherine) to view the two houses we were interested in buying (no. 71 and no. 94-1). Much to our disappointment, she shook her head immediately when she arrived at 71. Later she gave her reasons.
94-1 got her approval though, in terms of house direction.
After that, we left to Bangsar SC to get our fortunes told for the year. Mdm Katherine patiently explained to us what she had seen in the stars and impressed my mother-in-law so much that she whipped out and angpao for her. hahaha.
We had lunch near Alan's office (salted fish fried rice which left much to be desired) and then ventured to Pavilion at 230pm. I then had a taste of my inlaw's superb stamina. They walked and walked and walked from 230 to 6pm (stopping only for a kopi at Toastbox). We didn't buy anything substantial - just makanan (bread for breakfast). Amazing, but true. We quickly concluded that Mid Valley Mega Mall was a much more exciting option to spend our hours in.
Alan fetched us at 6 and we had dinner at Robson's before rushing home to shower and prepare for class at the orphanage. Mum and Dad mingled with the children at the orphanage, helping us to distribue sweets. They were so touched when the children came to ask them questions and one even sat on Mum's lap! haahha
At 10pm, we all left the orphanage, happy but extremely exhausted.

We woke up late. Alan picked us up at lunch time and we went to eat the delicious fish slices beehoon soup in Klang Lama. Then went to view another house in Bangsar with Agent Eric. Another disappointment. It was old and unkempt *sigh*
We dropped Dad and Mum at Mid valley to shop whilst I returned home for classes with the twins at 330-530pm and Dania from 6-8pm. We all went out for dinner at the Desa Fishing centre. Hokkien mee (black), yam with pork ribs, kangkong, salted egg yolk prawns.. we walked in the pasar malum nearby after that to walk away the calories.
Saturday 14 February 2009 (Happy Valentine's Day everyone!)
We left the house early for Muar. Dad and Mum wanted to buy some furniture for their new house (a two storey terrace house in Muar, near the town). We visited fungshen the cake shop, owned and run by Alan's uncles. It's huge and very classy (complete with smoking and non-smoking lounges) and juxtaposed against the backdrop of a sleepy little fishing town.
After savouring some of their delicacies, we went to the house to take a look. It was a good buy- Alan and I concluded. Very nice and airy and spacious and GREAT value for money. :) Nice retirement house for Mr and Mrs Harry Tan!
Lunch was Assum fishhead, deep-fried fish, steamed fish and some calamari at a warung nearby. We met two uncles who are Dad's good friends and then after lunch, we headed to a furniture shop to pick up 1 doube bed, 2 single beds, 1 cupboard, 1 dressing table, 1 bedside table (free) for a steal.
Back at the house, we cleaned up the exisiting sofa set before setting off for KL at 620pm.
We headed to the foodcourt in Klang Lama for a Ipoh horfun- Valentine's day dinner before heading for home to collaspe in bed for the night.

We woke up very late, exhausted after our day trip to Muar. After stonning about the house, we made our way at 2+pm to Imbi Palace for a nice dimsum late lunch. After pigging out (everyone was starving...) we sent Dad and Mum to Corus hotel to catch the Aeroline coach back to Singapore at 430pm before doing away with the notion of going for a massage at Jalan Alor.
We decided that heading home to sleep was a better option. :)

The InLaws are in Town! :D
hello folks,
Me resting at home before tuition class tonight with Dania.
My inlaws have been staying with us since Monday night and boy have we been busy!
Monday 9 February 2009 was a public holiday. We woke up late and then procrastinated, resulting in NOT bathing the two dirty dogs that day.
We left home to go to Sungeiwang to replenish our dvds and also to low yatt to buy daddy's birthday pressie - a digital photo frame! :)
After that, we rushed to Kepong to bainian with Jay Jay's previous keepers (Robin's mum and dad) and then rushed down to Pavilion to have dinner at the food court before sprinting up to the cinema to catch Changeling (a fucking good show, if I may say so) and then sped to Corus Hotel to pick up Daddy and Mummy (Alan's parents). As you can tell, the key word of events that day is "RUSH".

I was dead tired when I woke up. ahhaha. Bones ached BUT Shopping Beckoned. We left by shuttle bus at 11am to Mid Valley Mega Mall to shop. And SHOP we did. We spent hours at Jusco which was having a mega sale. Of cos, I took this chance to sign up for the J-Card and then qualified for the discounts instantaneously.
Lunch was at the Japanese restaurant in The Gardens and we were stuffed at the end of it.
We continued to shop around more before I picked up the Mango cake from Secret receipe and Alan picked us up for dinner at Unique Seafood. YuMz.
We treated Daddy and Mummy to Geoduck sashimi, chilli crabs, steamed prawns, vege and LONG DAN. ;D~~
At home, we cut the cake and proceeded to watch Painted Skin dvd. ;)

We woke up late and then I prepared the mango cake again for breakfast. After chatting awhile, I cooked scallop and oyster porridge for lunch and beancurd skin and gingko nuts for tea break. Dad helped me to bathe the dogs as well whilst mum kept an eye on the stove.
After lunch, we hopped downstairs to Lorenzo to view the furniture. I liked a dining set , complete with 6 chairs. Very nice and I am positive Alan will like it. But that was the only set left and it was badly scratched. :P
After tuition with Dania tonight, we will all go out for dinner at Robson's.

My feet are KILLING me
woahhhh.. It has been a hectic day...
We left the house at 10+am to view a house (let's just call it House #12) in Bangsar. It left loads to be desired and I shall leave it at that.
We went to MVMM after that, at ard 11ish and had yong tau fu for breakfast before shopping in Ace Hardware for bbq stuff for tomorrow's bbq gathering.
Then, we headed to New York Skin Solution for our facial. We were kept awaiting for mroe than 1/2 half and my facial was a rushed job because we mentioned we had an appointment to keep at 230pm.
At 245pm, we hurriedly left the parlour and rushed down to Bangsar to meet Marie-Ann at House #94-1. We had labelled the house "Nice Nice House" for easy reference because the owner had done it up pretty nicely and it was for sale - lock,stock and barrel. The pictures had amplified the beauty of the house and we found it abit wanting when we saw it with our own eyes.
Marie-Ann took us to see another house nearby but that scared the shit outta me. Very eerie and creepy overgrown garden and weird interior. Needless to say, I was shaking my head even before we visited the topmost level.
Next, we met up with the owner and agent of House #71. It is a beautifully renovated house boosting 4200sq feet. hahaha Yes yes, you are going to ask me what on earth I'm going to do with all that space...But that's a Happy Problem. Anyway, this was the second time viewing this house and the owner, the contractor himself had wanted to explain to us all the furnishing etc details.
We like the place very much and there's one special feature (excluding the huge living room and masterbedroom with a huge walkin wardrobe space) - there's one level that can be convert to a classroom space. The build up layout is sooooooooooooo perfect for a whiteboard / projector screen/ tables and chairs. Once I had walked in, I immediately saw myself conducting medium-sized classes there during the day / night! hahahaha. Another money-making scheme!
Anyway, the whole housei s about 4 (or issit 5) storeys and has very beautifully done up renovation works. Almost in move-in condition. We just wanna do minor renov works and we can MOOOOVE. hahaha.
Although we are still looking, we are quite set on this house. Just need to calculate the finances now... One drawback though is that it faces directly a very busy highway and we therefore would not be able to open the windows at all to get some 'fresh' air because of the air / noise pollution.
At ard 5pm, we headed to another house in the same row whose owner was selling becos she was moving to a semi-D in Sajuana. Her house again disappointed us because of the old interior and run-down look.
Deciding to explore Bangsar area - which would be our new neighbourhood and playground in the near future, we had dinner there at Nando's. I can't remember whether Singapore has Nando's but it's somewhat like KennyRogers. We had skipped lunch so Alan and I each took 1/2 a chicken and 2 sides.
Then, we found a gem of a supermart. Very much like Singapore's Seng Siong. It's called TMC and it's right in the middle of the high-class expat area!!! Interestingy, you can see Beemers parked outside and AngMohs shopping happily inside, picking up their groceries etc for a steal..ahahhaha.
We bought all the dry stuff / drinks needed for our bbq tomorrow and then headed home to feed the famished dogs.
